What the job was
A pool company had a pool deck demo scheduled in Weston. The pool company did the demolition. Our part was the trailer: we dropped it off early in the morning, before sunrise, ready for the job.
The broken-out deck went into the trailer as clean fill, meaning concrete and dirt with no trash mixed in. That load was recycled, which saved the customer disposal fees.
The size and service we used
We supplied an 18-yard dump trailer. The box is 14 feet long, 7 feet wide and 5 feet high. The flat rate is $395, covering 7 days and 1 ton. Clean fill trailers are available upon request, so tell us up front when a load will be only concrete and dirt.
See concrete and clean fill dumpsters for how these rentals work.
Why that choice fit
As a general rule, a mid-size trailer suits concrete and dirt because a bigger box would not help. Concrete gets heavy fast, so a heavy load usually runs out of included weight long before it runs out of space. Anything over 1 ton is billed at $120 per ton.
Keeping the load clean is what makes recycling possible. Concrete and dirt kept apart from trash, wood and plastic can go out as clean fill rather than mixed debris. If you are hiring a contractor for this kind of work, it helps to agree in advance who keeps the load clean. Our clean fill guide explains the difference.
