Dumpster and demolition guides
Straight answers to the questions we get every week: which trailer size to book, what gets heavy, what can’t go in, and what to expect from a demolition job.
- What Size Dumpster Do I Need? For most home projects, an 18 or 21 yard dump trailer is the right size. The 18 yard ($395) fits garage cleanouts, carpet tear-outs and move-in cleanups, and the 21 yard ($440) fits whole-house moving cleanouts and larger property cleanups. Choose the 15 yard ($350) for a single room or heavy material, and the 24 yard ($485) for big, bulky loads like yard waste. Every rental includes 7 days and 1 ton.October 12, 2026
- Dump Trailer vs. Roll-Off Dumpster: Which Should You Rent? Both hold your debris until it's hauled away; the difference is the equipment. A dump trailer is towed in behind a pickup, sits on its own wheels and has 4 to 5 foot walls, while a roll-off is a container that a roll-off truck sets down on the ground. Our dump trailers come in 15, 18, 21 and 24 yard sizes, each a flat rate that includes 7 days and 1 ton.October 12, 2026
- What Can't Go in a Dumpster in Broward County? Our dump trailers can't take appliances containing refrigerant, tires, batteries, paint and paint cans, propane tanks, ammunition or hazardous materials. If any of these are found in the load, it's returned to your job site and a $100 surcharge applies. Most of these items can go to the household hazardous waste drop-off at 2780 N. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach on Saturdays, if your city participates.October 12, 2026
- Dumpster Weight Limits and Overage Fees: How to Stay UnderEvery dump trailer rental includes 1 ton of weight, and anything over that is charged at $120 per ton. Bulky, light loads like furniture, cardboard and brush take up space long before they add up, but concrete, dirt, rock and roofing can reach a ton in just a couple of cubic yards. Tell us what you're loading so we can plan the right trailer, or a separate clean fill trailer.October 12, 2026
- Clean fill: how to cut disposal costs on concrete, pavers and tileThe simplest way to cut disposal costs on concrete, pavers and tile is to keep them clean: load them on their own, with no wood, trash, metal or plastic mixed in, so the load can often go as clean fill and be recycled instead of being handled as mixed debris. Clean fill trailers are available upon request, so tell us before you start loading. Text photos of the material to (954) 247-1399 and we'll tell you whether it can go as clean fill.October 12, 2026
- What size dumpster do you need for a roof tear-off?For a roof tear-off, pick the trailer by weight, not by space. The U.S. EPA puts asphalt roofing at about 731 pounds per cubic yard, so a ton of old shingles takes up only a few cubic yards, and a smaller 15 yard ($350) or 18 yard ($395) trailer is usually the better fit. Each rental includes 1 ton, and weight over that is $120 per ton.October 12, 2026
- Interior demolition: what to expect from start to finishInterior demolition runs in six steps: you send photos or book a walkthrough, we agree on a written scope and quote, you handle the prep (utilities, belongings, permits), we protect what stays and tear out what goes, the debris is hauled off, and the space is swept clean for the next trade. Most surprises come from skipping the prep, so that's where to focus. Text photos to (954) 247-1399 to start.October 12, 2026
- Shed removal: should you tear it down or haul it away whole? Most sheds get torn down on site, because taking them apart is the only way out for sheds that are rotted, built on a slab, or too big to move in one piece. Hauling a shed away whole only works for a small, solid prefab shed with clear, wide access to the street. Text photos of the shed and the path to it to (954) 247-1399 and we'll tell you which approach fits.October 12, 2026
- Junk Removal, Dumpster Rental or Demolition: Which Do You Need?Choose junk removal when the stuff already exists and you want someone else to lift it, load it and haul it away. Choose a dump trailer rental when you or your contractor will fill it yourselves over a few days. Choose demolition when something has to be torn out or taken down first, such as a kitchen, a shed or a pool deck.October 12, 2026
- How Do You Clean Up Debris After a Hurricane in South Florida?Follow your city's or county's debris instructions first; FEMA's guidance is to sort storm debris into separate piles (vegetative, construction, appliances, electronics, hazardous waste and household garbage) and place them by the roadside. A dump trailer is useful for the yard waste and water-damaged contents you want off your property on your own schedule, as long as you keep prohibited items like refrigerators, batteries, paint and propane out of it.October 12, 2026
- Can You Put a Dumpster on a Paver Driveway or in an HOA Community?Yes. Our dump trailers are designed to be driveway-safe and are placed carefully to avoid damage, including on paver driveways. If you live in an HOA community, check your association's rules on dumpsters before delivery, and if you have any concerns about placement, tell us before the trailer arrives.October 12, 2026
- What Affects the Cost of Demolition?Demolition cost comes down to how much is coming out, what it's made of, how hard it is to reach and carry out, and how much debris has to be hauled away and how heavy it is. Separating clean concrete, pavers and tile as clean fill can lower the disposal side, while permits and utility disconnections are handled by the owner or contractor and sit outside our quote.
