Can You Put a Dumpster on a Paver Driveway or in an HOA Community?
By Cesar Hurtado, owner · Published
Yes. Our dump trailers are designed to be driveway-safe and are placed carefully to avoid damage, including on paver driveways. If you live in an HOA community, check your association's rules on dumpsters before delivery, and if you have any concerns about placement, tell us before the trailer arrives.
Can a dump trailer sit on a paver driveway?
Yes. Our dump trailers are designed to be driveway-safe, and we place them carefully to avoid damage.
A real example: a repeat customer in Parkland rented an 18-yard trailer for 7 days to remove old carpet and declutter. The trailer sat on the customer's paver driveway for the rental.
If anything about your driveway worries you (loose or sunken pavers, a recently sealed surface, a cracked section of concrete, a steep slope), tell us before delivery and send a photo. We'll talk through where the trailer should go.
How much room does a dump trailer need?
These are the dimensions of the trailer box for each size. Leave extra room around it for the hitch and for the truck to back the trailer into place.
| Size | Length | Width | Height | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 yard | 14 ft | 7 ft | 4 ft | $350 |
| 18 yard | 14 ft | 7 ft | 5 ft | $395 |
| 21 yard | 16 ft | 7 ft | 5 ft | $440 |
| 24 yard | 16 ft | 8 ft | 5 ft | $485 |
Every size includes 7 days and 1 ton. Before you pick a size, also look up: low branches, overhanging roof edges, and wires over the driveway all matter when the trailer is backed in and when it's picked up full. If you're not sure what fits, the size guide helps, or text us a photo of the driveway.
How should you prepare the driveway before delivery?
- Pick the spot. Decide where you want the trailer. Closer to the door you'll be carrying debris from saves a lot of steps.
- Move the cars. Park where you won't need to get out past the trailer for the rental period.
- Clear the path. Move trash cans, planters, bikes and anything else between the street and the spot.
- Mark what's easy to miss. Sprinkler heads, landscape lighting and drain covers near the edge of the driveway are worth pointing out.
- Tell us about gates and codes. If your community has a gate, send the entry instructions ahead of time.
- Send a photo. A quick photo of the driveway from the street is the easiest way to flag anything we should know.
Plan for pickup the same way. The truck needs the same clear path to hook up and pull the trailer out once it's full, so keep cars, trash cans and anything new out of the way until it's gone. If you finish early, let us know, and we'll schedule pickup so the trailer isn't sitting in your driveway longer than it needs to.
Do you need HOA approval for a dumpster?
It depends entirely on your association. HOA and condo rules on dumpsters vary widely, and we can't tell you what yours says. Check your own HOA's rules, or ask your management company, before you book.
Questions worth asking your HOA or property manager:
- Are dumpsters or dump trailers allowed in driveways, and do they need approval first?
- Is there a limit on how many days one can stay?
- Does it have to be covered, screened or removed overnight or on weekends?
- Are there set hours for deliveries, pickups and work?
- Are there restrictions on where it can be placed, such as the street, a shared drive or a guest space?
- Does the gate need advance notice of our truck?
Getting a written answer before delivery is the simplest way to avoid a violation notice halfway through your project. If your HOA limits the number of days, plan your loading around it. The standard rental is 7 days, and $50 per day accrues beginning on the 8th day after delivery if you need longer.
Whatever your HOA's rules say, keeping debris inside the trailer walls and scheduling pickup as soon as you're done keeps the rental short and the driveway tidy.
Do town rules limit dumpster placement or hours?
Some do, separately from any HOA. A few examples from official town pages:
- Highland Beach: the town's Building Department page says town code bars placing, cleaning or removing dumpsters during restricted construction hours. Construction isn't allowed on weekdays before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m., on Saturdays before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m., or on Sundays and major holidays.
- Hillsboro Beach: the town's Building Department page lists construction hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays only, with no work on major holidays.
- Parkland: the city's Building Department oversees waste hauler registrations, along with permits and inspections.
If the trailer would need to go on the street or another public right-of-way instead of your driveway, check with your city before delivery. Rules for your town can differ from these examples; your city's building department is the place to ask.
We deliver to Highland Beach, Hillsboro Beach, Parkland and the rest of our service areas.
How do you load a trailer without causing problems?
- Keep it inside the walls. Don't stack debris above the sides. It can fall out on the way, and it's the first thing neighbors and HOAs notice.
- Spread heavy material out. Load concrete, tile and dirt low and evenly instead of piling it in one corner.
- Watch the weight. Heavy debris adds up fast. Weight over the included 1 ton is $120 per ton. See weight limits and overage fees.
- Keep prohibited items out. Appliances with refrigerant, tires, batteries, paint, propane tanks, ammunition and hazardous materials aren't accepted. If they're found, the load is returned and a $100 surcharge applies.
- Keep the area tidy. Sweep up stray nails and screws around the trailer as you go, especially near the street.
