The same list applies on every job: hazardous materials, ammunition, propane tanks, paint or paint cans, tires, batteries and any appliance that contains refrigerant. If they are found, the load is returned to the site and a $100 surcharge applies. Brief your crew before loading starts.
Permits for demolition and construction belong to the contractor or owner. Check with the city's building department for the job's requirements.
A short toolbox talk helps. Subcontractors and day laborers often assume any dumpster takes everything, and a single paint can or propane cylinder can send back a full load. Setting aside a corner of the site for those items, with a sign on it, keeps them out of the trailer.
Heavy debris deserves the same attention. Concrete, tile and dirt count against the included 1 ton on a standard rental, with overage at $120 per ton, so plan masonry as separate clean fill loads when there is a lot of it.
